I was feeling stuck, it was a gray day and my spirits were down just like the weather. I knew I needed to add something to my day to lift my spirits.
There were things I needed to do on the east side, so I made a quick detour at Ralph Lauren's mansion on the corner of 72nd & Madison.
A lovely man dressed to the nines opened the door and generously welcomed me into the space asking how my day was.
I was captivated by the color mecca of freshness and vibrancy that was presented to me.
Spiral staircases escorting you from one floor to the next, everything in white marble, making it feel crisp, bright, and worthy. I kept thinking I was in Paris as "La Vie en Rose" was playing in the background. Stopping on each floor, I took 5 million pictures of the flowers, the clothes, the jewelry, the hand bags, admiring the fabrics, the silk, the tapestries, everything evoked an air of opulence.
I started imagining… What would my life be like if I lived like this? Imagining myself wearing the yellow silk sheath dress on display, on a full moonlit night, dancing under the stars surrounded by a beautiful blooming garden. My heart was racing inside, it was energizing, exciting, and I felt alive. My stuckness had melted away.
I walked out of the store with nothing in my hands, but I was filled to the brim with hope, inspiration, romantic fantasies, and rose colored glasses.
Heading home, feeling the warmth of the sun shining on my skin as the brisk cold air wrapped around me, it felt invigorating.
The kind old man I always see playing the trumpet in the park greeted me with a warm smile- and wouldn't you know, he was playing "La Vie en Rose" - more signs from the universe.
Stopping in at West Elm near my apartment, I saw these amazing rose colored glasses. There was one set left, and for $25, I was on top of the world.
