Through the darkness, we find our light.

I Am Statements

I have a cuddly adorable Billy the Giraffe stuffed animal that I bought 5 months ago. It’s funny how this little stuffed animal has brought me an abundance of comfort, love, and warmth. Animals and animal spirits have been very prevalent in my life, and I always want to know what is the spiritual message when we see a certain animal. What does it mean in that moment, in that day, maybe even in our lives as a whole? The giraffe is an animal of grace and is extraordinarily majestic, it’s a balance of connecting the head to the heart as well as spiritual and worldly matters. Billy and I have this very beautiful connection. He’s my friend, and we’ve been through a lot together. I tell him things that I need to say, things that are hurting inside, things that I want to go away. Very recently, I found another exact Billy the Giraffe in a small shop in Connecticut. These specific little animals are not easy to find, so I grabbed it. I was actually going to gift it to someone, because I felt they really needed the love and comfort I was getting from my Billy. But, instead, I decided to keep Billy 2.0. They’re together on my bed, basically joined at the hip. And Billy 2.0 is now Billy's friend, and my friend too. Through all of this I’ve gleaned from Billy’s soft smile that in order to move forward, we have to regain and reconnect our inner giraffe balance. No matter what hurts we are experiencing, we need to raise our energetic vibrations to feel a genuine love for not only ourselves, but the person on the other side.

Our emotions are valid, and we need to feel them, and feel them thoroughly. But, if we allow ourselves to wallow there, it becomes more and more difficult to pull through. We need to allow ourselves the grace to heal and to find the good in all of it. Refocusing our minds on what was good, what did I learn, what do I want my future to include, and what can I do to make myself feel better? A beautiful meal, great music, a silly tv show, small things definitely help and bring my mind out of circling the negative. It’s in our dark moments when we reach out to those friends who love us through thick or thin and you can call at any time of the night, and they’re right there. True supportive, balanced, friendship is worth its weight in gold. I’m so grateful for the ones that are in my life- you know who you are. Life is about learning about ourselves and growing within who we are… the only way to experience it all is through living it, and opening our hearts. There are no accidents. We meet who we meet, whether for a day, a week, a month, or a lifetime. They teach us something about ourselves.

Having these little stuffed animals around me is helping me to open my heart and to trust the decisions I’ve made, even though sometimes it really hurts. It’s incredible the little wisdom that a little stuffed Billy the Giraffe can bring. We all need somebody- sometimes that’s a small stuffed animal, …and sometimes that somebody is yourself. “As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
