Itโs within our imperfections that we find our perfection.
Wabi-sabi is the Japanese thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection. We see this in Kintsugi- the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the breakage with gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
Our stories and the experiences we have gone through have molded us into the unique human being we are today- imperfections and all. The history of our lives explain how we got to where we are today. No matter what that path looked like, whether it was an overgrown trail in the woods walking through cobwebs, or a newly paved road, we can take pride in that course, and donโt need to disguise it.
We learn from our trials, and shine from our victories.
Reflecting on where we have been, we can move forward with an abundance of love and patience for ourselves. Itโs within the imperfections that we find our perfection.
When youโre so caught up in that moment of despair, you canโt always see how itโs moving you forward. But looking back, you can see that youโve made it to this point and have overcome every obstacle, fear, and trial youโve faced so far. From there you can look into your bright future and truly go for the gold, embracing every step you've taken in the past to bring you to this moment.
It is in the tenderness of embracing our imperfections and flaws, that we truly become more authentically perfect within ourselves.
Give yourself the permission to meet yourself where you are...
amidst the chaos
among the tasks
entangled with the anxiety
Only you have the ability to change your thoughts. โBe the captain of your own shipโ - today.
